A new study conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston suggests drinking coffee lowers the risk of depression in women. Over a 10-year period , women who drank 2-3 cups of caffeinated coffee per day were 15% less likley to develop depression than those who drank one cup or less per week.
This new study is the largest of its kind and included more than 50,000 women in the U.S. The data spanned 1980-2006 and the results were published in the September 26th issue of Archives of Internal Medicine. Similar studies involving coffee and mental health have also found a link between coffee consumption and reduced risk of suicide.
